Pakistan’s generals under fire

May 11 – and the weeks of horsetrading that follow – is being billed as Pakistan’s big test of democracy. A successful transfer to a new civilian administration is the hope. And that will be a good thing.

But real democracy is about more. This video is a much more valuable sign that the country is moving in the right direction, taking aim at an institution once considered untouchable.

One of the writers, Ali Aftab Saeed from Beygairat Brigade (great name),  was keen to point out to me that he wasn’t anti-military but was criticising the behaviour of generals that seemed to be able to do as they pleased, without being held to account.
