Justice for Rimsha?

ImageSo, Rimsha Masih has been held now for what, 16 or 17 days. She is held in a high-security prison totally unsuitable for a vulnerable girl. She is accused of blasphemy on what are probably trumped up charges. And today there was a bail hearing.

At about 8-30 the judge enters. The hearing lasts all of two minutes during which time the lawyer for one of the accusers says they can’t possibly attend a bail hearing as there is a lawyers strike. Briefly, the scrum around the bench threatens to turn into a fight, with cries of “Say that again and I’ll thump you” – or words to that effect. Then it’s over. Case adjourned.

We are due to reconvene later to set a date for a new hearing, but for now Rimsha seems certain to spend another night in prison.
