There are costs and benefits to the new British aid logo. As far as I can see, the benefits are for the UK government, which will be better able to show voters at home where their money is going with clips of Union Flag adorned tents in refugee camps, for example. It is difficult to see how any of the benefits will go to the beneficiaries of British aid. In fact, there will be costs. Could aid priorities become driven by branding opportunities? And could it mean that the UK is less likely to work with other donors? I’ve set out some of the potential questions here
